I like to travel and I love a challenge, so throughout my time at University studying for my BA and then Masters in Social Anthropology, I trained as a PADI master scuba diving instructor. This allowed me to spend summers in Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and Fiji teaching diving, running busy dive centres and prioritising safety and professionalism throughout.
After University I moved permanently to North Sulawesi, Indonesia, buying a beach and building my own scuba diving resort with the help of the local community. This has given me strong management skills, a high regard for customer service and a cool head in any situation – we faced tsunami warnings, wildfires and sinking boats! I set up an NGO there which supported children to learn English and gain experience in hospitality and the diving industry, and we also defeated a Chinese mining company who threatened our island’s amazing coral reefs as well as peoples’ homes.
After having my two children in Indonesia I headed back to the UK so they could be educated here. I have worked in sales and marketing but have always been passionate about running my own business. Working with Iain and Gary has allowed me to kickstart my business and learn from the industry experts!
Theatre, running, long walks on the beach with my dog, did I mention scuba diving?
I speak pretty good Indonesian.
I would book onto a liveaboard in the Galapagos and go diving with marine iguanas and hammerhead sharks.
I spend my weekends exploring the amazing country parks and beaches we have in Hampshire with my family and dog and I love catching up with friends. I’m always planning my next diving adventure and have now got plenty of people to visit around the world who came to stay with me in Indonesia.
